What is an External Penetration Test?
Your external perimeter is the boundary between your organisation and the internet. Every service you expose publicly, whether that is a firewall, VPN gateway, remote desktop service, mail server, or cloud-hosted resource, represents a potential entry point for an attacker. An External Infrastructure Assessment identifies weaknesses in that perimeter through the same techniques a real attacker would use.
This is not an automated scan. Our assessors conduct a manual, intelligence-led assessment of your external attack surface, combining open source reconnaissance, service enumeration, vulnerability identification, and exploitation attempts to determine what an attacker could realistically achieve from outside your network.
What we test
The assessment covers your externally reachable IP ranges and hostnames. This typically includes firewall and gateway services, remote access solutions such as VPNs and RDP, email infrastructure, DNS configuration, publicly exposed management interfaces, and any other services reachable from the internet within the agreed scope.
Where vulnerabilities are found, we attempt to exploit them in a controlled manner to establish the true impact, rather than simply reporting on theoretical risk. The difference between a vulnerability that exists and one that can be actively exploited matters significantly when prioritising remediation.
What you receive
You receive a written report covering all findings, their severity, the evidence gathered during testing, and specific remediation guidance. Findings are rated by risk to help your team prioritise the work that matters most. We also provide a debrief with your technical team to walk through the results and answer questions about remediation.
